1 John 4:7-21
Big Idea: The Love Of God Changes Everything!
The Life-Changing Love Of God:
1) Provides us new life through believing in Him (v. 7-10; 15-16)
“Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?’ She said to him, ‘Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.’”
– John 11:25-27
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
– John 10:10
2) Provides us a new way of life through abiding in Him (v. 11-21)
5 Resurrected-Life Realities (v. 11-21):
1) We experience the perfection of the love of God (v. 11-12)
2) We are filled with God (v. 13)
“In Him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of His glory.”
– Ephesians 1:13-14
3) We get to testify faithfully about God (v. 14-16)
4) We are filled with confidence for the upcoming day of judgement before God (v. 17-18)
5) We must obey Jesus’ command to love others like God (v. 19-21)
