John 5:1-17
Big Idea: The Power Of Jesus Provides Me Wholeness And Propels Me To Holiness
2 life-changing realities about Jesus:
1) Jesus’ grace is transformational (v. 1-14)
“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of air .... But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ – by grace you have been saved.”
– Ephesians 2:1-2a; 4-5
My response to the realities of Jesus:
1) Get up (v. 8)
2) Take up (v. 8)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
– 2 Corinthians 5:17
3) Step out (v. 8; 14)
2) Jesus’ power is transcendent (v. 9-17)
And He (Jesus) said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.’”
– Mark 2:27-28
