Nehemiah 11-12
Joy comes through my ongoing choice to be supernaturally satisfied in Christ as I maintain an eternal perspective throughout different temporary earthly circumstances.
Big Idea: A life devoted to God is continually filled with joy from God
A Life Devoted to God:
1) Faithfully Serves Willingly Wherever God Sends Me (11:1-12:26)
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.”
– Psalm 37:4-5
2) Joyfully Worships God For Who He Is To Me (12:27-47)
“But be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.”
– Ephesians 5:18-21
“Remember my affliction and my wanderings, the wormwood and the gall! My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down with me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ’The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in Him.’”
- Lamentations 3:19-24
5 Reasons I Can Rejoice Today:
1) God rebuilds what is broken
2) God restores what is lost
3) God redeems those in bondage
4) God strengthens me during the struggle
5) God provides me with purpose for every situation
