Big Idea: Christ’s Surpassing Greatness Propels My Enduring Faithfulness
Christ’s surpassing greatness propels us to:
1) Humble dependence (v. 1-17)
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
– John 15:5
2) Godly grief (v. 9-19)
“For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.”
– 2 Corinthians 7:10
3) Faithful devotion (v. 15-23)
“And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”
– Matthew 16:18
Fruit that you are accurately valuing Jesus’ greatness:
1) Investing your life to build what lasts for eternity? (v. 15-17)
2) Willingly paying the price? (v. 18-19)
3) Doing your job faithfully? (v. 20-23)
4) Wholehearted Exaltation (v. 24-25)
