Big Idea: A Life Of Faith Is Rooted In A Heart Of Worship
Biblical Faith: A confident belief in Jesus Christ that produces enduring obedience to God in order to advance the Kingdom of God, no matter our earthly circumstances or consequences
A Heart Of Worship:
1) Delights in the righteousness we have from God (Hebrews 11:4; Genesis 4:1-12)
“For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
- Psalm 51:16-17
2 ways to delight in the righteousness from God (Genesis 4:4):
1) Rest confidently in God’s justification of me (Hebrews 11:4; Genesis 4:4)
“Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.”
– Hebrews 9:22
2) Rely completely on God’s provision for me (Genesis 4:4)
2) Gives faithfully and generously to God (Hebrews 11:4; Genesis 4:4)
“The point is this whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”
– 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
The “Get To” Giver (Genesis 4:4):
1) Gives God my first
2) Gives God my best
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”
– Romans 12:1-2
